Stop by to get a tree that you can plant as part of the Tree for Every Delawarean Initiative.

A selection of potted trees for planting stand in a field with people in the background.The Delaware Center for Horticulture will host a free native tree giveaway in partnership with the Route 9 Library and Innovation Center.

There will be 200 trees available, on a first-come, first-served basis. Trees are available to all Delaware residents. Each comes with a bag of mulch and planting instructions.

No purchase is necessary, but optional donations to support the Delaware Center for Horticulture greening initiatives and mission are welcome.

Available native trees include Redbud, White Oak, Serviceberry, River Birch, Dogwood, Magnolia, Persimmon and Red Maple. Community Forester Rachel Sten will be on hand to answer tree-related questions.

The Tree for Every Delawarean Initiative is a collaborative effort involving DNREC, the Delaware Forest Service and other key stakeholders.
