The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) will hold a hearing to gather public input on proposed changes to management plans for Atlantic Striped Bass.
Draft Addendum III to Amendment 7 of the Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic Striped Bass in intended to increase the probability of rebuilding stock to the target level by 2029 by reducing fishery removals by 12% through management measures that would be implemented in 2026.
The draft addendum proposes a quota reduction for the commercial fishery while considering season closures and/or size limit changes for the recreational fishery.
The hearing in Little Creek is one of a series of ASMFC hearings in Atlantic coastal states from Maine to Virginia. It will be a hybrid meeting with both an in-person option and a virtual option.
