The Department invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up the Deerfield Substation Site located in Newark. The Site is an electrical substation that had a petroleum release as a result of a leaking underground storage tank (UST). An Environmental Covenant (EC) is proposed to be issued restricting the Site to commercial/industrial use only and prohibiting the use of the groundwater at the Site. A Contaminated Material Management Plan (CMMP) will also be issued to protect construction workers completing excavations at the site.
Details of the Proposed Plan are available at the office of DNREC-RS (391 Lukens Drive, New Castle, DE, 19720), or online at: www.nav.dnrec.delaware.gov/DEN3/
The comment period ends on March 2n, 2020. For additional information, please contact Eileen Capitoli, Project Manager at (302) 395-2600 or via email at RS_Public_Comments@delaware.gov.
