The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the Deerfield Substation Site located in Newark. The Site is an electrical substation that had a petroleum release as a result of a leaking underground storage tank (UST). An Environmental Covenant (EC) is required restricting the Site to commercial/industrial use only and prohibiting the use of the groundwater at the Site. A Contaminated Material Management Plan (CMMP) is also required to protect construction workers completing excavations in the former UST location.
DNREC issued public notice of the Proposed Plan for Deerfield Substation on February 9, 2020. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available at the office of DNREC-RS (391 Lukens Drive, New Castle, DE 19720), or online at: http://www.nav.dnrec.delaware.gov/DEN3/
