Water Supply Allocation Permit Applications

Mountaire Farms, Inc. (Selbyville) has requested a renewal of its industrial water allocation for five existing industrial wells. The maximum daily withdrawal is 1,500,000 gallons per day. The wells are located within the town limits of Selbyville in Sussex County, near the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Hosier Street. Tax parcel 533-16.11-41.00.

Long Neck Water Company has applied for a modification of its public water allocation which serves approximately 6,000 people annually and 5,000 people seasonally in Sussex County.  The application includes eleven existing public wells.  The requested allocation is 4.3 million gallons (MG) per day, 54.0 MG per month, and 350.0 MG per year.

JC Bennett Farms, LLC has requested an allocation permit for one proposed irrigation well. The maximum daily withdrawal 115,200 gallons per day. The well will be located northeast of Frankford in Sussex County, near the intersection of Peach Tree Lane and Armory Road. Tax parcel 433-7.00-8.00.

A public hearing on the above applications will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a public hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious objection to the application is received by February 24, 2020, at 4:30 p.m.  A public hearing request shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the action’s probable impact.
