The Department invites public comment on a proposal to cleanup Operable Units (OUs) –34, 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39 of the Hamilton Park/Pyles Lane Site, a residential neighborhood located in New Castle. Fill material placed before the houses were constructed, as well as remnants of a former foundry operations previously located in the rear of the neighborhood, are the likely sources of elevated metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) detected within the top 0 to 2 feet below ground surface (bgs). The plan includes the removal of soil within the top two feet bgs in select areas within each OU.
Details of the Proposed Plan are available at the DNREC office located at 391 Lukens Drive, New Castle, DE, 19720, or online at: http://www.nav.dnrec.delaware.gov/DEN3/
The comment period ends on August 26, 2019. For additional information, please contact Lindsay Hall, Project Manager, at (302) 395-2600, or via e-mail at Lindsay.Hall@delaware.gov.
