Join staff from DNREC and the New Castle Conservation District to learn about proposed plans for the removal of Dam 7 on White Clay Creek.
The Dam 7 Project Coordination Team will hold a public information meeting to discuss plans for the removal of Dam 7, which is located upstream of the White Clay Creek State Park Pomeroy Trail/Wedgewood Road parking area.
The proposal includes removal of the six-foot high, 110-foot wide dam, also known as Deerfield Dam, and restoration of the channel. The dam material would be used in the channel restoration, bank stabilization or habitat enhancement.
The project would be funded by a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Fund and by the New Castle Conservation District. The project coordination team includes representatives from DNREC’s Divisions of Parks and Recreation, Fish and Wildlife and Water, from the National Park Service, Deerfield Golf Club and the New Castle Conservation District.
