The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Water, hereby gives notice that a permit application for the construction of wastewater conveyance has been received concerning the following:
Sussex County and the City of Rehoboth Beach are proposing upgrades, expansion and refurbishment of their respective wastewater treatment facilities, South Coastal and Rehoboth. The primary objective of the South Coastal improvements is to expand the plant to a maximum month capacity of ten million gallons per day (10 MGD) by duplicating the existing secondary and tertiary treatment facilities and by modifying the preliminary treatment, flow equalization, disinfection, effluent pumping and solids handling facilities at the plant located at 33711 South Coastal Lane in Frankford, Delaware. The primary objective of the Rehoboth improvements is to replace the existing unreliable power distribution system at the facility located at 20573 Roosevelt St. in Rehoboth Beach.

A public hearing concerning the above application will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious request for a hearing is received on or before May 22, 2019. A request for a public hearing shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the permit’s probable impact.
