Chesapeake Bay Watershed Implementation Plan – Phase II

Delaware’s Draft Phase II Watershed Implementation Plan for the Chesapeake Watershed was submitted to the EPA on Dec. 15, 2011.

EPA reviewed the document and provided comments in Feb. 2012. Public comments were accepted through March 21, 2012. All suggestions were considered and the document was modified accordingly.

The Phase II WIP provides additional details about the partner organizations who will implement the WIP; specifies when plan actions will occur, and identifies the resources necessary for success. Additionally, some of the implementation goals identified in the Phase I WIP have been parsed down to a smaller scale, such as at the County level.

Finally, the Phase II plan establishes implementation goals for 2017, which is when 60 percent of the necessary nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment goals must be achieved, with 100 percent of the actions necessary to achieve the TMDLs implemented by 2025.

Input Decks

An input deck is a spreadsheet formatted specifically for inclusion in the Chesapeake Bay Program Watershed model for analyzing future “what if” scenarios by the EPA. The spreadsheet contains information about the type and amount of best management practices that may be implemented, the associated units, the land uses or fish and wildlife the management practices apply to, and where these BMPs will be located.
