Division of Community Affairs

The DNREC Division of Community Affairs oversees environmental enforcement, offers free business assistance and manages marketing communications. The division coordinates with federal, state and local authorities to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations. It evaluates and modifies statutes, and serves as the Department’s liaison to lawmakers, journalists and constituents.

Environmental Enforcement

The Environmental Crimes Unit, part of the Delaware Natural Resources Police, supervises and coordinates compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to environmental and natural resources enforcement.

Assistance to Business

The Small Business Environmental Assistance Program helps businesses understand the requirements of Delaware’s environmental programs and helps find effective ways to comply with them through the Regulatory Advisory Service.

Marketing Communications

The Public Affairs team leads brand, community engagement, events, marketing, media relations, publishing, social media and multimedia production. It manages the DNREC Newsroom, publishes the Outdoor Delaware online magazine, and oversees DNREC social media channels.

Legislative Liaison

The Division serves as liaison between the Department and the Office of the Governor, legislators, special interest groups, and the public in developing, evaluating and modifying potential new legislation and existing statutes.
